Wall lining is not an easy technique to overcome. It is one of those jobs that are best left to the experts for maximum benefit. Our expert painter and decorators are happy to apply their knowledge to any task you require them to carry out.
Why line the walls?
- If you have a rough wall in the house lining it will make it appear to be smoother. This will obviously give it an overall higher quality finish.
- Most manufacturers will recommend the use of a lining paper for a really professional job.
- If your walls have previously been gloss-painted or covered with any oil-based paint or sealer it is a good idea to apply a lining paper to give a more absorbent surface for you wall coverings to adhere to.
- A good quality lining paper should always be used with heavy wall coverings or special finishes such as grass cloth, cork, hessian, handprints or flocks.
- If you are tiling a wall that is uneven or rough then plasterboard is a favourable material to use as a lining. Our qualified technicians will either nail it to wooden batons or stick it on with board adhesive to give you a nice smooth surface on which to tile. Again a top class finish will be achieved.

Some tips for DIY wall-liners:
- Before installing wallpaper, make sure all old covering is removed
- Fill in cracks and holes (use filler)
- Measure how long and how many wallpapers you need and cut them with decoration scissors
- Wallpaper paste needs usually 15-20 minutes to be ready to use, so it is a smart idea to mix it before you start cutting the lengths
- Make sure the patterns match everywhere
- You normally start hanging in the least visible corner, often behind a door
- It is better to buy one extra roll of wallpaper than to end up with not enough
