Anti-Bacterial ‘Vs’ Anti-Viral

Anti-Bacterial ‘Vs’ Anti-Viral – What are the differences? And what we think you need to know about the products you’re using.

We know that now more than ever people are looking for ways to help stop the spread of viruses. It is clear that everyone has the best intentions, but some products are very misleading!

We think it is important for you to ‘get to know your products’ especially when it come to Anti-Bacterial ‘Vs’ Anti-Viral products. We have spent a lot of time establishing the best products and methods to use whilst cleaning and completely eradicating viruses whilst doing so. The right cleaning product, used in the right way, could kill a virus such as coronavirus (Covid-19) from a surface which in turn will stop the spread. It really is that simple.

Keeping our staff and clients safe is our top priority. This is why we want you to be as aware as we are of the importance of choosing the right cleaning products. We now have a wide variety of cleaning products that we are using daily that can kill viruses such as coronavirus effectively. Our cleaning routines and methods have had to change this year, just like everything else!

Should you give anti-bac the sack?

Stocking up on antibacterial wipes and cleaners may seem like the right thing to do but they won’t actually protect you, your home, or your workspace from coronavirus, or any other virus.

That’s because bacteria and viruses are two different germs, therefore they are killed by different products. Anti-Bacterial products will kill bacteria, but you need anti-viral products or disinfectant to kill a virus such as the coronavirus (Covid-19).

But don’t go throwing all your antibacterial cleaners away, some may still be effective.

Check your labels!

Not all household cleaning products contain virus killing ingredients. Some antibacterial products may not be effective against viruses, so it’s important to select a product that states ‘Kills 99.9% of bacteria and viruses’ on the packaging. These products can be effective in inhibiting the growth and reproduction of a virus if used properly. Products that have ‘disinfectant’ on the label can be used to kill bacteria, viruses and mould.

We recommend using a multi surface spray and then a disinfectant product. Follow the instructions on the label to ensure safe and effective use of the product you choose.
